Forest Ecosystem
Our Forest – an Ecosystem with History and Future
The forest is far more than a collection of trees. It is habitat, climate protector, water reservoir, recreational area and economic factor all at once. In our forestry operation, we understand the forest as a living ecosystem that is constantly changing – and remains stable and diverse in the long term precisely through responsible use.
Our forest is something special. Large parts of our areas are shaped by former armament and industrial sites. Sealed areas, old road and rail networks, buildings, as well as contaminated sites pose challenges, but at the same time open up new perspectives. What was once considered a "blank area," we see as a starting point for development, innovation and new energy.
Added Value Forest – Use and Protection in Balance
A sustainable forest does not have to be a strictly sealed-off nature reserve to be ecologically valuable. Our approach combines sustainable forestry with targeted promotion of biodiversity. Through active management, structurally rich forests with different age classes, clearings, deadwood areas and refuges for plants and animals are created.
The added value lies in this balance:
Ecological stability through species-rich, climate-resilient stands
Climate protection through long-term CO₂ binding and healthy soils
Economic use as a basis for regional value creation
Social benefit through educational, recreational and development spaces
This keeps the forest alive – both ecologically and economically.
